During holiday periods, building usage changes. Fewer people are present, spaces are used less intensively, and systems often do not need to run at the same level as during a normal work week.
Yet, in practice, this often does happen. Lighting, ventilation, heating, and cooling remain active in many buildings because time clocks or holiday schedules are not set correctly. As a result, systems continue to run unnoticed as if the building were fully occupied.
The consequence? Unnecessary energy consumption, higher costs, and extra CO₂ emissions.
Prior to the summer holidays, we organized a practical session for the location managers of Stichting Carmelcollege. Not only to share knowledge, but primarily to look together at where energy waste occurs and which actions can make an immediate difference.
We got to work on recognizable situations from daily practice. Where does unnecessary energy consumption originate? How do you identify which system is responsible for it? And how do you use PULSE CORE to better align settings with the actual occupancy of a building? The focus here was not only on insight, but also specifically on follow-up.

With PULSE CORE, site managers can easily detect signals of energy waste. Think of installations that continue to run outside operating hours, anomalous patterns in energy consumption, or settings that do not fit a holiday period.
During the session, we supported the locations in checking and optimizing their holiday schedules. This allows installations to be better aligned with the actual occupancy of the building. And that is exactly where the gain lies: not only seeing where energy is consumed, but also knowing which actions are needed to reduce that consumption.
This session demonstrates how important it is to bring data and practical knowledge together. PULSE CORE provides insight into building performance, but the greatest impact is created when those insights are discussed with the people who manage the buildings on a daily basis. That is why we regularly organize workshops and practical sessions with clients. Not as a one-off explanation of the platform, but to build knowledge, identify opportunities, and achieve concrete results.
By looking at data, settings, and building usage together, you gain more control over energy consumption. Often, the first savings lie in practical adjustments: systems that switch back on time, schedules that align with occupancy, and deviations in usage that are addressed immediately.
Are you a building owner, facility manager, or site manager? Then it is wise to check before every holiday period whether the buildings adjust to occupancy.
The question is not whether energy can be saved somewhere, but where to start. With PULSE CORE, we provide insight into where the greatest opportunities lie. Together, we translate those insights into concrete actions, so that energy saving does not remain just an opportunity, but delivers results.
